Organizing the Diaspora

We invite you to join hands with us in Illinois, Philadelphia, South Carolina, Kentucky, The UK and nations all over African and in the Diaspora to organize Region 6 of the African Union the Diaspora to make Pan African Unity a reality. The Golden age of People of African Descent has begun.  The window of opportunity the ancestors labored fought and died for; along with the descendants destined unity, equality, and self-determination has been decreed.  On September of 1999, the heads of State on the continent of Africa formed the Confederation of African States known as the African Union which later will become the United States of Africa.  The African Union was initially made up of 5 regions.  In May of 2012 in South Africa, the African Union implemented the new region known as region 6.  The heads of State has declared the entire global Diaspora as region 6 of the African Union.  The Global Diaspora is made up of almost 400,000,000 people of African descent (PAD) from nations all over the world.

The world has taken noticed of this event of great magnitude.  This event as sparked a new pride among Africans all over the Globe in Brazil, South America, North America, United Kingdom, The Caribbean, The West Indies and other nations around the world.  This new spark has caused an explosion of global African pride deemed the 'African Renaissance' and the world has taken notice with all eyes on the global African Diaspora.  The Governments of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) issued a declaration (under the Sirte Declaration) in 1999 to establish the African Union (AU), with the aim of speeding the process of integration of countries in the continent to enable it to play its rightful role in the global economy while addressing the social, economic and political problems confronting the continent and to give the continent its place as a global competitor in all aspects of endeavors.

The AU was officially established on the May 26, 2001 in Addis Ababa and launched on July 9, 2002 in South Africa. The African Union is made up of both political and administrative bodies.  The Assembly of the African Union under the political body makes the most important decisions of the AU at a semi-annual meeting of the heads of state and government of its member states.  The AU also has a representative body, the Pan African Parliament, which consists of 265 members elected by the national parliaments of the AU member states.

The African Diaspora refers to the communities throughout the world that are descended from the historic movement of peoples from Africa, predominantly to the Americas, Europe and the Middle East, among other areas around the globe.  The term has been historically applied in particular to the descendants of the West and Central Africans who were enslaved and shipped to the Americas by way of the Atlantic slave trade.

The declaration in July 2007 at the AU summit in Accra, noted the 'importance of involving the African peoples, including Africans in the Diaspora, in the processes leading to the formation of the Union Government.  In 2003, the AU amended its constitution (called the AU Constitutive Act) to clarify its fundamental relationship with the Diaspora, and to invite the Diaspora to join the organization to help Africa unify.  Article 3(q) of the AU's amended Constitutive Act,' invite(s) and encourage(s) the full participation of the African Diaspora as an important part of our continent, in the building of the African Union 1.

The formation of the African Union and its implementation of Region 6 laid the foundation for massive opportunities for the Diaspora.  The AU has decreed in the Declaration, which is divided into 3 sections:
1.    Political Cooperation: Mobilization of Support, Encourage the Civil Society in the Diaspora and in Africa to support, Advocate and Mobilize resources for the development of Africa and its Diaspora;
2.    Economic Cooperation:  Develop effective regional integration mechanisms that would enhance closer interaction between the African Union and the Diaspora; Create an environment conducive for the growth and development of Small, Medium and Micro-Enterprise and promote entrepreneurship in Africa and the Diaspora; Use financial instruments focusing on investments to facilitate the mobilization of capital that would strengthen links between Africa and the Diaspora;
3.    Social Cooperation:  Knowledge and Education, Design and develop platforms for African and Diaspora educators and scholars to address the developmental agenda of the Continent and the Diaspora. These would include, among others, the establishment of African-centered institutions and programmes and increased collaboration efforts between academic and research institutions in Africa and the Diaspora regions; 2

The African Union has set precedence for the implementation of the Diaspora declaration to facilitate and expedite the development all People of African Decent everywhere around the globe. With ideas such as the push for a transcontinental and transnational ID card and other revolutionary ideas for Africa's development, the world is watching and all eyes are on the Diasporas mobilization and support to assist the development of Africans around the globe.
